TEAM
Our team consists of students in the departments of biomedical engineering and molecular biology and genetics.

Bükem Tanören
Principal Investigator
I am graduated from Department of Physics in Bogazici University. I got my PhD in Physics in 2007 from the same department. I am mainly interested in studying spectroscopic and microscopic techniques and their potentials in diagnosis. I currently study development and improvement of imaging systems in medicine and theranostic nanoparticles as imaging agents.

Fatemeh Ataei
Researcher
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in pure chemistry from Sharif University of Technology.
My interest in chemistry and biology led me to pursue a master’s degree in biomedical engineering. I am particularly interested in how chemistry can be applied to solve biomedical problems. Currently, I am working on research that involves quantum dots and exploring their potential in the biomedical field.

Beste Dipçin
Researcher
I am a research assistant in the Biomedical Engineering department and a Biomedical Engineering master's student at Acıbadem University. I graduated from Acıbadem University, the molecular biology and genetics undergraduate program as the first of department and faculty. My main goal is to integrate material science and biomaterials with the molecular biology and genetics field to develop theranostic materials for the diagnostics and treatment of complex diseases at the cell and nucleic acid levels alongside developing better drug delivery and imaging systems. Currently, I am working on the synthesis, and imaging of theranostic organic quantum dots, nanocomposite production for gene knock-down, and in vitro testing of quantum dots to test their theranostic potential in complex diseases and against multidrug-resistant bacteria.
Master of Science (MSc.) Students

Bora Güvendiren
Researcher
I am a Medical Engineering graduate who is completing a double major program in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Acıbadem University. My areas of interest include computational chemistry and biology, molecular dynamics simulations, quantum physics, quantum computations, development and optimization of image processing algorithms in MATLAB, Python, and C++. Apart from my areas of interest, I am presently engaged in two projects: the first involves using machine learning and deep learning algorithms to identify cancerous regions within the body, and the second focuses on integrating carbon-based quantum dots into biological systems with the goal of utilizing molecular dynamics simulations to obtain preliminary data and applying these quantum dots for imaging and therapeutic purposes.
Graduates (BSc.)

Selin Tan
Researcher
I am an enthusiastic and multitasking biomedical engineering student at Acıbadem University. My aim is to become a professional in the field of tissue engineering. My areas of interest include mechatronics and quantum physics. I am proficient in SolidWorks, Python, and wiring in electronics.
I support various research and administrative tasks. I enjoy contributing to diverse projects and collaborating with a talented team.
Undergraduate Students

Selcen Umay Barutçugil
Researcher
I am an undergraduate Molecular Biology and Genetics student at Acıbadem University, driven by a deep scientific curiosity and a passion for professional growth. Currently, as a Research Intern at Bukemlab, I am gaining hands-on experience in the synthesis of Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs). I am particularly interested in the development of these theranostic nanoparticles for the observation and monitoring of neurological effects within the brain, aiming to contribute to more precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for complex diseases. With a learning-oriented mindset, I am dedicated to bridging molecular research with innovative nanotechnological solutions.

Elif Demir
Researcher
I am a 3rd-year Biomedical Engineering student pursuing a double major in Molecular Biology and Genetics and a minor in Computer Engineering who is passionate about Neurophysics, Neural Circuits, Quantum Biology and in vitro & in silico modeling of these systems with a deep interest in fundamental sciences and philosophy. I am a proactive undergraduate student with strong problem-solving skills and an
autodidactic approach to learning.
